Healthcare is critical to every community. The rural setting of Nantucket results in unique challenges as well as a unique opportunity to drive healthcare innovation that can apply beyond the edges of Nantucket. Broadly this initiative will cover how to improve healthcare both physical and mental health.
Focus: Mental Healthcare & Substance Use Disorders
Every community in America is struggling with how to treat, support, and overcome the stigma of mental illness and substance use disorders. Nantucket is no different. This initiative will focus on how to innovate and use innovation to lead in solving the mental health can substance use issues on the island and off.
Next Generation of Innovators & Innovation
The Next Gen. initiative’s goal is to support the education and development of the skills needed to be part of the innovation economy. The program will focus on engaging high school students in innovation. We will explore ways to engage students in the innovation economy, on innovation projects, and encourage and teach them to take on their own innovation projects.
